The green light for the extension has been given to Our Lady's Secondary School.

However, the CMETB says “detailed data indicates a declining enrolment for both schools in the coming years”.

The group is opposed to a proposal to merge St Bricin's and St Mogue's secondary schools.

CMETB proposed in 2019 that St Mogue's in Bawnboy and St Bricin's in Belturbet would close and be merged.

Minister Foley was visiting Cavan yesterday.

The plans have been met with widespread opposition since they were first announced in 2019.

Minister Foley has visited a number of schools in Cavan and Monaghan.

The funding will allow the Ballyhaise National School to construct a new general classroom with en-suite facilities.
