Nominations are now open for the Cavan Monaghan Garda Youth Awards. Awards are considered for young people who by their presence make their communities a better place to live in and the nomination process is open to everyone. The winners of these awards are then submitted to a national judging panel who select winners in each category.
The Cavan Monaghan Garda Youth Awards are given in categories for groups and individuals. There is also a special achievements award bestowed on a person who has overcome difficult circumstances and whose commitments deserves recognition. All categories are for young people aged between 13 and 21. To apply or find out more details visit www.garda.ie. Last year, a local teenager has received a Special Achievement Award at the annual National Garda Youth Awards. Sara Marza from Carrickmacross was recognised for her fundraising efforts for children in Syria who have benefitted greatly by her efforts.
