There isn't a 'one-size fits all' method to reopening schools, according to the Teacher's Union of Ireland.
Representatives from the teaching unions will meet with Department of Education officials today ahead of the planned reopening of schools on Thursday.
Another union, the ASTI, has called for a staggered reopening at a time when many staff are isolating.
However TUI General Secretary Michael Gillespie doesn't think that should be the solution across the board, and individual schools should be able to assess their own situations:
