A meeting of Cavan County Council heard this week there has been no communication from Eirgrid or other State agencies in recent months with regard to the North South Interconnector.
The development emerged after Cllr Clifford Kelly asked the executive if the company had been in contact and what was the current state of play with the project.
Director of Services Brendan Jennings told those gathered that all three counties under the scheme - Cavan, Monaghan and Meath - shared equal responsibility in terms of bringing the project to fruition.
He added that all three local authorities were working together on the matter.
The meeting was told that the North South Interconnector continues to be a work in progress.
