There was no ambulances available for a time across Cavan and Monaghan over the weekend.
There was 11 ambulances in the night time fleet covering the north east on Saturday night but for a time all ambulances were in the car park of Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda as the hospital had become inundated with patients.
Meath West TD Peadar Tóibín said the backlog left Cavan, Monaghan, Meath and Louth without any ambulances for a time.
