The Down Syndrome Centre North East located in Carrickmacross is hosting a fashion and entertainment show in Monaghan Town this weekend.
The Down Syndrome Centre North East was founded in 2018 in response to a recognised need in the North East region for the provision of support and facilities for families and carers of young children with Down Syndrome.
The centre provides services to families in Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Meath which offers a place for parents, siblings & extended family to meet, get information and advice. RTE’s weatherman Gerry Murphy and Caroline Mc Elroy the well-known and popular presenter and stylist from Louth will be the MCs. Monaghan’s own legend singer-songwriter Marty Mone will be getting the crowd singing and clapping, best known for his songs “Hit the Diff” and “Slip the Clutch.”
The previous fashion show fundraising event in 2019 was a real crowd puller and raised over €33, 000 which is essential as the charity relies on fundraising, and charitable donations as they receive no government funding for the running of the service. The ethos of the centre is to strive to create a bright future where children and adults with Down Syndrome are given support to reach their full potential and live independent and fulfilling lives.
Annemarie Cassidy from the fundraising committee say the fashion and Entertainment show takes place this Sunday in the Hillgrove Hotel and is sure to be a great day
