Local TD Niamh Smyth has been appointed Junior Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment with special responsibility for Trade Promotion, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Transformation.
Her appointment was confirmed this evening.
The cabinet met earlier to sign off on the 23 junior ministers. The local TD has been elected three times for the constituency of Cavan and Monaghan since first elected to the Dail in 2016.

Deputy Smyth says she is delighted with the appointment and is looking forward to the role over this Dail term.
