Cavan-Monaghan TD Niamh Smyth has been appointed Chair of the Oireachtas Arts Committee.
She served as the Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on the Arts in the last Dáil and was a member of the committee.
Deputy Smyth was previously an Arts and Education Officer and has qualified from the National College of Art and Design.

She says she is delighted to be appointed Chair of the committee and she says its immediate focus is securing “the future of the Arts sector” in light of Covid-19.
An Oireachtas committee chair receives a €9,500 annual allowance.
