A new policy for visitations will be in place for Cavan and Monaghan hospitals from next week.
Issues surrounding families being denied access to see loved ones was raised at this month's meeting of Cavan county council after a number of representatives were contacted by distressed constituents.
However, the General Manager's Office at the hospital told Northern Sound that plans were in place prior to yesterday's meeting to see limited visitation resume following feedback from patients, staff, and the public.
Councillor Aiden Fitzpatrick, who raised the issue, said he has heard heart-breaking stories due to the decision to stop visitors and something needs to be done immediately.
