A new specialised dedicated Garda Drugs unit has been announced for Cavan and Monaghan.
The dedicated unit will be made up of Gardaí from various ranks who will specialise in the area of drug detection.
Over €600,000 worth of drugs has been seized in Cavan and Monaghan over the past three weeks according to the Garda Chief Superintendent for the region. Two of them seizures took place in Co Monaghan in the past 48 hours.
Alan McGovern, the Garda Chief Superintendent for the Louth, Cavan, and Monaghan division says drugs are a scourge in our society and have a major impact on families across the region. Mr McGovern says this unit is aimed at targeting the production, distribution and sale of drugs in the region.
