Local Minister Heather Humphreys has announced that a new Special School for County Monaghan will be in place next year.
Minister Humphreys has described the development as a significant milestone for families in Monaghan.
The decision is set to be formally agreed by Cabinet on Tuesday. The local minister said this is hugely welcome news for Monaghan;
The first dedicated Special School for the county will cater for children and young people with complex special education needs up to 18 years of age. The Fine Gael Minister said it is being sanctioned as early as possible as part of advanced forward planning for the next school year 2025/2026 to ensure that appropriate placements are available where needed to meet the needs of students with special educational needs.
