A new show produced by Tydavnet's very own Ailish McElmeel will air on BBC Northern Ireland tonight. The comedy drama tilted "Video Nasty" was shot entirely on location in counties Monaghan, Cavan and Tyrone. Set in 1985, when the home video revolution is in full swing, Video Nasty tells the story of three teenagers who go on a quest to complete a cult VHS collection. Instead, they get mixed up in a murder investigation, becoming chief suspects and public enemies.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Ailish who has been running her own production business for the last ten years from Dublin said it was a "wonderful experience" to film in her native county, adding that local amenities such as Rossmore Forrest Park "look phenomenal" in the show. Ailish said that over the eight week period of working on this project the people of Monaghan were incredibly welcoming to both cast and crew. Ailish also highlighted the importance of "giving back" to the local economy and the important role that the arts can play in that; "Our spend on local services alone and local hotels and restaurants over €1.5 million and that's not counting all the cast and crew who would of made use of the local hospital settings. The cast and crew stayed in Monaghan Town for over 8 weeks of filming and just fell in love with the area."
