Ten years after it was promised, Gael Scoil Lorgan in Castleblayney is to get a new school building.
The new school will have eight classrooms and two special education teaching rooms and will mean staff and pupils will be able to move out of their current site in an industrial estate in the town.
In 2015, full funding for the new school was announced. Four years later, in 2019, Local Cavan-Monaghan TD Heather Humphreys, who was Minister for the Gaeltacht at the time also announced a new building for Gael Scoil Lorgan.
The new school will be developed on a site on the Shercock Road, Castleblayney. Local TD Niamh Smyth welcomed the long-awaited news. Also welcoming the news was Fianna Fail councillor Aoife McCooey, who says she is absolutely delighted with the news from the Department of Education today. Finally the people of the area can see the green light when it comes to this project.
