A new report shows 73 per cent of Irish 13-year-olds expect to achieve a university degree. The 'Growing Up In Ireland ‘report by the Department of Children shows that 21% of Irish 13-year-olds walk to school.
6,375 13-year olds were surveyed for this Report. It found that 44% travel to school by car; 26% by school bus; 21% walk; and 4% go to school on public transport. The survey found that 21% of girls are likely to experience low moods compared to 8% of boys.
Only 11% of 13-year-olds eat five portions of fruit and veg per day while 73% say they expect to achieve a university degree. 83% said they would talk to a parent if they had a personal problem while 78% of 13-year-olds said they would confide in a close friend.
