Twenty full time jobs will be created if Aldi Ireland are successful with a planning application lodged last week for a new store in Monaghan Town.
The German outlet has lodged plans for the construction of an 1,800sqm single storey food store at the town's Macartan Road junction and the Glen Road.
The plans form part of the retail firm's continued expansion nationwide. Aldi has been trying to establish an outlet in the county town for a number of years at the site known as McNally's car park.
Flood remediation and flood relief works outside the Aldi site boundary led to those plans being unsuccessful. County planners will decide on this application in early July.
