Local authorities across Cavan and Monaghan are encouraged to submit PEACE action plans under the new PEACEPLUS programme. €110m has been allocated to the 17 eligible local authority areas within the programming area of Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Heather Humphreys said the funding will facilitate local community regeneration and transformation by allowing local authorities and their communities to self-determine and deliver priority projects on a cross community basis. She added that this is a "fantastic opportunity" for local authorities to invest in the continued development of peaceful, prosperous and thriving communities.
Speaking about the programme, Minister Humphreys said; "I very much encourage eligible organisations to submit applications under the Re-Imaging Communities Investment Area of the new EU PEACEPLUS Programme, which has an allocation of €75 million.
"I am very pleased that my Department of Rural and Community Development will be partnering with the Department for Communities in Northern Ireland and the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB) in providing funding for this investment area under the programme."
Closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Thursday 14th December 2023.
