An exciting new exhibition has opened at the Peace Campus in Monaghan Town.

Doors of the new Monaghan museum have officially opened to the public. The new exhibition explores the evolving narrative of life on the border. The museum is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm for the summer period, with plans to extend opening hours in the autumn and beyond. Entrance is also free of charge.

Liam Bradley who is the curator of Monaghan County Museum told Northern Sound that this new era for the museum has been over five years in the making. He added that the exhibition explores the idea of borders in our lives, to coincide with the recent move to the Peace Campus. Speaking to Northern Sound, Mr Bradley stated; "The main thing is community and that's what we're all about. A museum without people is just a building with lots old objects in it and that's all it is. It's the people who help tell that story, the people from the stories that we're telling and also the people who are coming in to interact with it and that's what a county museum is all about. If you're thinking about coming to visit, I think people will be entertained, they will find enjoyment and certainly a sense of local pride. People may come and find out a few stories that they didn't know about their local place and go away maybe thinking a little differently about the place they've called home their whole life -  that would be the strength of what we hope to achieve here."
