Local Fianna Fáil T.D for Cavan-Monaghan Niamh Smyth has confirmed that works are nearing completion at the new Respite Centre in Monaghan.
Deputy Smyth visited the site in recent days, just outside Monaghan Town to meet with the builders and see first-hand the work being carried out by local company CivilTec Construction. The new respite centre located in UrbalKirk - approximately 8kms from Monaghan Town - is almost ready to go with a date for opening of the 1st of October still in sight.
Minister for Disabilities Anne Rabbitte met with families from the group SNAP - Special Needs Active Parents Group in recent months to discuss their concerns within this sector. Following on from this she committed to finding a dedicated respite centre for the children of Monaghan. Within weeks, this will become a reality."
The Talbot group will run this facility once operational. Deputy Smyth said admitted this news was a long time coming but now within weeks, this will become a reality.
