New hunt for bodies of murdered couple underway

Gardaí are searching open lands in north county Dublin, in connection with the disappearance and murder of two people, nine years ago.

William Maughan and Anastasija Varslavane were reported missing at the time, having left their home in Gormonstown, in Co. Meath, on the 14th of April 2015. Their case was upgraded to murder in 2016, and seven people have previously been arrested in connection with the case.

Gardaí say the area of land will be searched and subject to excavation, technical and forensic examinations over the coming days.
