An old pub that was once full of life which stands empty and unused in Belturbet is set to be converted into social housing units.
The Duckin' Stool in the town centre of Belturbet has been closed and the building vacant for a number of years.
That's all set to change with works set to get underway to convert the former public house into social housing very soon according to local Councillor Brendan Fay.
The councillor and local publican said this development along with eleven other residential units on Widows Lane will benefit a number of people who are currently on the social housing waiting list in Cavan.
He said there is in the region of over 500 people currently on the waiting list and announcements like this will help lower that list in the county.
Cllr Fay said developments like this is a way of breathing new life into the town of Belturbet.
