A new footpath in Carrickmacross has been completed in recent days. Works began in January of this year on the Lurgans hill footpath which has been in the pipeline for a number of years.
According to local Councillor Colm Carthy, what started out as a routine stretch of footpath turned into a pretty large project which included a new stone wall which in turn causing the project taking months instead of weeks.
The Sinn Fein Councillor says it's a safe access route for pedestrians and will be put to good use by the many walkers who access the Lurgans. The newly completed footpath ties Mullinary to Bogtown Lane which is an old walkway that leads to the Kingscourt road.
Cllr Carthy added that he hopes that the council will be carrying out some maintenance on Bogtown lane also over the coming weeks.
