A new figure is expected for the cost of leasing the Virginia Show Centre by the CMETB.
A disagreement emerged back in October between both parties in relation to the cost of the lease which was needed as part of the board's Covid-19 emergency response measures.
In October, members of the CMETB were told that the Department of Education had sanctioned funding of €95k to provide additional accommodation for the students of Virginia College, at the Virginia Show Centre.
When this figure was issued by the executive of the CMETB to members they questioned the high lease cost.
However, in a statement to Shannonside Northern Sound at the time the Show Centre said the figure quoted was entirely inaccurate and the final figure would be considerably less.
At their November meeting it was confirmed by Chief Executive John Kearney that the figure was now being revised, as they would only require the use of 3 rooms instead of the 5 outlined in the original plan.
The new figure will include the rental of the rooms, in addition to cleaning, electricity and any other associated costs.
He also stated that any unused money will be reimbursed to the Department.
In response to this, Councilor and board member Colm Carthy requested that the final figure be brought back to the board at their next meeting, with Mr.Kearney confirming all members would be made aware of the final cost once it was decided.
