A new District Court Judge has been assigned to the Cavan/Monaghan area.
This comes following the sudden passing of Judge Denis McLoughlin in September, which saw a vacancy arise.
This meant there was no district court Judge since September.
Earlier this month at a cabinet meeting, Minister Helen McEntee said that Cavan-Monaghan was a busy district, and it was important that a permanent judge be brought in as soon as possible.
The Government at its meeting on the 16th of November formally made a decision to assign Judge Raymond Finnegan to District 5 with immediate effect.
The Meath man had been based in Donegal and was only appointed to that area in September.
However, he will now leave that post to assume his role in this region and is said to be glad to get closer to home.
