New data reveals that more than 1,200 residential properties in Co Cavan are vacant.
It means 4.6% of properties in the county are listed as vacant.
In Co Monaghan, 2.9% of the county's residential properties are listed as being vacant.
Yesterday, Revenue published the Local Property Tax statistical update and revealed that over 57,000 properties nationwide are listed as being vacant.
The preliminary figures, collected on the 20th of June, do not include vacant properties that are not liable for LPT in 2022, such as derelict properties.

15% of these properties are listed as being vacant because they are 'holiday homes', while 28% are 'undergoing refurbishment'.
Meanwhile in Co Monaghan, 2.9%, or 605 properties, are vacant.
Eight per cent of these are listed as 'holiday homes', while 21% are listed as 'undergoing refurbishment'.
Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe welcomed the report and said he will bring forward a tax on vacant homes as part of the upcoming Budget.
