Communication boards have been installed at two locations at Rossmore Park playground in Co Monaghan. The boards were produced in association with InterACT, Trinity College Dublin and Inclusion Ireland, and supported by Safe Care Technologies and the HSE.
The communication boards aid communications, increase socialisation and provide learning for all users of the facility. They are primarily a communications support, with particular benefit to children or adults who may not communicate using speech.
The communications boards, which include picture representations of day-to-day core words, help bridge communication gaps. Each communication board includes a QR code which enables users of the playground to scan the code and take an image with them which can be either be printed or used on their phones.
The pilot project helps the council receive feedback from users. For more details, please visit Monaghan County Council website and search for communication boards guide to communications boards.
