Eoin Doyle has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive of Cavan County Council.
Mr Doyle, who held the post on an interim basis following the retirement of Tommy Ryan in October 2023, was formally recommended by the elected members of Cavan County Council at a special meeting on Thursday, following a recruitment competition conducted by the Public Appointments Service.
Eoin has worked in local government for 34 years, spending the last 16 years in Cavan County Council as Director of Services where most recently he held responsibility for Housing, Libraries and Cultural Services, Human Resources, and Corporate Services.
He brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held positions in Galway County Council, Carlow County Council, and Offaly County Council. In addition to his vast experience,
Eoin has a broad range of qualifications having studied at The University of Galway, DCU, and The Honourable Society of Kings Inns. He also lectures in Local Government at the Institute of Public Administration.
Welcoming the appointment, Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council, Councillor TP O’Reilly, said, “Eoin is well-known to all the members of the council as a dynamic and committed public servant, who always strives to deliver what’s best for the county, adding that he looks forward to working with Eoin, his management team, and the council’s hard-working staff to continue to improve Cavan as a place to live, work, and visit.
