He says he always had a strong faith and felt the call to join the priesthood whilst in college in Galway.

The Diocese of Kilmore has gained a new priest following the ordination of Rev Jordan Mac Gabhann.

The 27-year-old is originally from Ballyconnell and is now based in Cavan Town. Rev. Jordan orginally went to college in Galway but then studied to become a priest at the seminary in St Patrick's College Maynooth. He says he always had a strong faith and felt the call to join the priesthood whilst in college in Galway. The Ballyconnell native hopes that his vocation might encourage other young people thinking of answering the call to do so.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he says that his ordination to the priesthood was a very special occasion.

"One of the things that struck me the most was that there were people from all the different areas of my life. For example there were local Cavan parishioners, people from my own native Drumlane and Belturbet parishes, people that I went to college with in Galway, my brother seminarians from Maynooth and all my teachers from all those different places, all of those coming together, my family aswell, in the one celebration. It was so strange to see all these different worlds coming together. That was really special for me".
