The Cavan County Draft Development Plan for 2022 to 2028 will go out for public consultation from the 28th of May.
It follows a recent meeting where councillors and the executive made amendments to the draft plan.
While most of these amendments passed without incident, some more contentious issues were put to a vote.
The Chief Executive's Draft of the Development Plan was issued to the Elected Members in March of this year.
Following a number of workshops, a report was issued which outlined the motions received from the Elected Members in relation to the Chief Executive Draft.
While many of the motions were not deemed to "materially change" the draft, some motions had to be put to a vote.
One such motion, proposed jointly by Councillors Patricia Walsh and John Paul Feeley, called for a change of zoning from Proposed
Residential to Amenity and Open Space zoning in Cavan Town, in order to provide a public open space and park at Killymooney Lough.
The Executive wasn't in support of the motion, arguing that this site is "precisely where we need a residential development to be happening".
The motion narrowly passed, with eight councillors voting in favour, seven against, and three abstentions.
There was another clash over a motion which was again jointly proposed by councillors Walsh and Feeley.
It called for a minimum of four acres of "proposed residential lands" in Swellan to be set aside to be used as a public open space.
The Executive argued that there shouldn't be "specific open space objectives for individual sites" and couldn't support it on grounds of "consistency".
It also went to a vote, with nine voting for, one against, and eight abstentions.
The agreed-upon motions will now be included into the Draft Development Plan, which will go to public consultation on the 28th of May for ten weeks.
