Passengers travelling from Cavan to Athlone are set to benefit from an enhanced bus service on Route 466 operated by Bus Éireann on behalf of the National Transport Authority.
Route 466 now includes six daily services between Cavan and Athlone including peak time services for commuters. The new service will operate seven days a week and includes improved options for connecting with Irish Rail services at Longford and Athlone.
Bus Éireann Route 466 serves Cavan, Ballinagh, Granard, Edgeworthstown, Longford, Kenagh, Ballymahon, Glasson and Athlone. Joanne Hayes, Tourism Officer with Cavan County Council said the move serves as a "great boost" to the local town.
She added it will facilitate both locals and visitors who want to explore Ireland's Hidden Heartlands region, increasing tourism and adding value to the local economy.
