Hundreds of people from the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois will join in the ordination of the diocese's newest Bishop this afternoon.
Westmeath native Paul Connell who has had a long association with St Finian's College in Mullingar was announced as Bishop elect in April of this year.
His predecessor Archbishop Francis Duffy will be one of a number of senior clergy from around the country attending todays ceremony.
The Primate of All Ireland Archbishop Eamon Martin will be the principal consecrator.
The ceremony begins at St Mel's Cathedral at 3 o' clock this afternoon.
