New average speed cameras have been installed on a major road in Cavan.
The new cameras measure a vehicles speed over a certain distance rather than at a fixed point. The cameras have been installed on the N3 between Kilduff and Billis in Cavan as it has been noted as a high collision area. They use Automatic Number Plate recognition to record the time ,date ,and location with anyone detected speeding being issued a fine.
It is one of the first roads outside of Dublin to have this infrastructure installed alongside the N5 in Mayo.
