The Higher Education Minister has announced in recent days three new farming apprenticeships.
The Farm Manager, Farm Technician and Horticulture trainee courses are set to equip students with the latest research and best practice management knowledge to successfully run a commercial farm business.
One of the courses will be available at Ballyhaise College in Cavan, the level 6 farm technician will be offered to locals across the region from next month.
This full time apprenticeship course is aimed for all ages both from farming and non-farming backgrounds to consider a career in farming
Frank Murphy who is the Curriculum Development & Standards Manager in Teagasc says these apprenticeships are very much hands on working on farms across the region.
