A new antenatal suite was officially opened at Monaghan Hospital today. Antenatal services transferred from the St Davnet's campus to Monaghan Hospital in June 2024. For this move to happen there was extensive renovation at a cost of €540,000 to the old Dental Area of Monaghan Hospital. The antenatal service originally moved to the St Davnet's Campus in late 2004. Speaking to Northern Sound, Lynda McGrory who site manager at the hospital described today's proceedings as a "full circle moment" 20 years on.
The new 'Kavanagh Suite' features seven clinical rooms and a staff office, a parent and baby changing room, breast feeding facilities for the Service User and HSE staff in line with National Policy, new heating system, dry lining of walls, new lighting all in line with climate action, bright colours, murals and comfortable seating which allows the new facility to stand out from the rest of the hospital setting.
