St Kilian's Heritage Centre is the "jewel in the crown" of County Cavan's tourism offerings.
That's according to councillor Shane P O'Reilly, who was one of a number of people who turned the sod at the site on Tuesday where a new amenity is set to be developed at St Kilian's Heritage Centre.
Speaking to Northern Sound, he also pointed to the close ties that exist between the people of Mullagh and Wurzburg in Germany , where St Killian travelled to after he left Mullagh in 649.
While councillor O'Reilly expects the process to be a "simple development", he believes it will add to the amenity that "already is" the heritage centre.
While the centre previously gained funding to improve its outdoor space with a community dining and performance space, as well as added sensory features, a new glass wall will now be developed at the local centre with the story of St Kilian on it.
