A new Alzheimer Society Daycare Centre has opened in Cavan Town this afternoon.
Minister for Social Protection and Minister for Rural and Community Development Heather Humphreys officially opened the centre earlier today.
The facility will provide specialised care and support for people with dementia and respite care for their carers.
The centre's opening was attended by members of The ASI, local dignitaries, supporters, and community members. The opening ceremony included a plaque-unveiling ceremony and a tour of the new facility. The centre will offer various activities and programs to promote cognitive stimulation, social engagement, and physical activity.
There are an estimated 1,058 people living with dementia in Cavan. The new Daycare Centre is located at The Sullivan Centre on the Cathedral Road in the town.
Speaking at the event Minister Heather Humphreys said: "It was an honour to open the centre and it brings her such joy to see a community come together and create a safe space for people with dementia and their families and carers to access supports and services.
