The approval of a new Aldi store has been welcomed for Monaghan Town.
Monaghan County Council gave the green light for plans yesterday to open a new large-scale store in the town.
The German outlet lodged plans back in April for the construction of an 1,800sq m single storey food store at the town's Macartan Road junction and the Glen Road. The approved plans form part of the retail firm's continued expansion nationwide and follows planning approval for a €6.5m store in Cootehill earlier this year. 20 full time jobs will now be created by the store opening in the town,
County planners gave the go-ahead with a date of the 6th of May 2027 that works must be completed on the new store. Local councillor David Maxwell said the retail store will bring more people to Monaghan Town
