More social homes are on the way for Tydavnet. The homes, currently under construction, are three-bed semi-detached two-storey houses in Cnoc na Greine and are being developed with the investment of €2.4m. This is the last phase of a development of a project of 18 social homes.
The site was originally part of an unfinished housing estate which the state bought to turn into social housing in the heart of the village within close walking distance of all local services.
Welcoming the latest development, Fianna Fáil Senator Robbie Gallagher said the new additions will "provide warm and energy efficient homes for families well into the future". The latest figures show that a further 1,681 new social homes were delivered by local authorities and Approved Housing Bodies (AHBs) in the second quarter of this year, including 1,016 new-build homes, 546 acquisitions and 119 homes delivered through leasing programmes.
