The Women's Health Action Plan 2022-2023 was launched this week.
Local Deputy Niamh Smyth says it's a one-year plan with very specific actions to deal with women's healthcare in more local and regional settings.
She added that the new gynecology clinic at Cavan General Hospital was a prime example of the targeted and specific focus of the plan on women's healthcare.
Deputy Smyth says the plan is symbolic and represents an "exciting and enlightening" time in the healthcare of Irish women.
"There are 20 of these clinics envisaged for hospitals around the country," she continued.
"Cavan General Hospital and Monaghan hospital do terrific work and are always very hungry and eager to bring new services to their facilities.
"If women can get these services and treatments on their doorstep, then everybody is a winner."
