Bewley's Big Coffee Morning for Hospice is one of Ireland's longest established and most loved fundraisers in aid of 26 hospice and specialist palliative homecare services nationwide.

St Christopher's Hospice in Cavan is one of the annual beneficiaries.

It's chair Jim Lawlor told Northern Sound that major plans are in place to develop the facility across Cavan and Monaghan.

He said the new 16-bed consultant led hospice is now at design stage.

Mr Lawlor added that €1m has been secured from the Department of Health for the project.

"A big thanks to Minister Heather Humphreys who has helped us to get to this stage," he added.
