Tests results have come back negative on samples taken from a poultry farm at the centre of a Bird Flu alert in County Monaghan.
Northern Sound FM understands that negative results have been returned in a suspected bird flu outbreak on the poultry farm located in Scotstown.
The potential case was detected in a flock of 45,000 laying hens in an enriched cage system
An investigation got underway yesterday and precautions were put in place after 400 birds were reported dead at the farm on Wednesday.
However only 30 birds died yesterday - which is not a typical outcome from a bird flu outbreak.
Preliminary results were expected this morning with more detailed analysis due this afternoon, but it was confirmed to the station last night that these results have come back negative and the flock will not have to be culled.
Meanwhile, members of the public are again being advised NOT to handle any sick or dead birds in the wild, and to report any cases to a vet.
