Cavan County Council has been asked to conduct a survey so that the location of defibrillators across the county can be identified.
Cllr Aiden Fitzpatrick made the request during a recent meeting of the local authority.
Cllr Fitzpatrick said finger-post signs were required so that people could be pointed in the right direction when there was an emergency.
The meeting heard that a national survey around defibrillators was currently taking place.
Director of Services, Brendan Jennings pointed out that once the results of that were published, Cavan County Council would act accordingly.
