A Women's World Cup activity book which was spearheaded by Monaghan County Council Library Service has been adopted nationwide. Over 150,000 copies of a World Cup Activity Book will be distributed around the country to help get children reading and learning all about FIFA Women's World Cup 2023.
This national initiative was first started last year by a partnership formed with Monaghan County Council and the FAI.
Speaking to Northern Sound Deirdriu McQuaid of the council library service said she was "delighted" to see national roll-out of something which was initially started in Monaghan.
She added that with Ireland Women's National Team set to make their major tournament debut at the World Cup this month, the curiosity of children will be sated with this free activity book that aims to promote literacy and reading in a fun, interactive way as part of the national Right to Read programme.
"Following on from the activity book that we done last year which was just for children in Monaghan, this is now a national initiative. 150,000 copies have now been printed and delivered throughout all public libraries across the country and also through the FAI summer camps and that all has been led by Co Monaghan."
