The N3 road will remain closed overnight following a two-car collision at Drumgora just outside Virginia. The collision occurred at approximately 1pm this afternoon between Lisgrey House and Billis on the N3.
Emergency services were at the scene and a female was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital in Dublin. It’s not known as of yet the condition the person is in at present that was involved in the collision. The road remains closed and diversions are in place. Meanwhile, a diversion is now underway from Virginia to Ballyjamesduff and to New Inns for traffic coming from both directions on the N3. Diversions will be as follows: Southbound: Divert at Lavey to Bailieboro via R165 then to Virginia via R178 Northbound: Virginia to Ballyjamesduff via R194 then to N3 at New Inn via R196. Road users are urged to follow the signage and adhere to these diversion routes, and not attempt to take any short cuts which may be particularly treacherous given prevailing weather conditions.
