The N3 will remain closed until at least lunchtime today, local Gardaí say. A technical examination still has to be carried out at the scene of the collision in Virginia yesterday in which a woman in her 70s was seriously injured. Meanwhile, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a road crash in Virginia yesterday afternoon.
At approximately 1.10pm, Gardaí and emergency services responded to a two-car collision in Lisgrey. A passenger of one car, a woman aged in her 70s, was brought by air ambulance to the Mater Hospital, Dublin, where she is in a critical condition. The occupant of the second car was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.
The scene has been preserved for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. Additionally, road users travelling on the N3 between The Lavey Inn and Virginia between 12.45pm and 1.15pm and who may have camera footage (including dashcam recordings) are asked to make it available to Gardaí.
