Murder investigation open in case of missing Louth boy (8)

Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the disappearance of 8-year-old Kyran Durnin from Drogheda who has been missing since August 30th.

An 8-year-old boy missing from County Louth since the end of August is now presumed dead and Gardaí have changed their investigation into launched a murder investigation into his disappearance.

Kyran Durnin was reported missing from his home in Drogheda on August 30th. A garda statement says "despite extensive enquiries" they have been unable to either locate Kyran or establish any information on his current whereabouts or any evidence that he is currently alive." Gardaí "now believe that Kyran is missing presumed dead" but no arrests have been at this stage.

Officers ask the public to remember that any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, will be welcomed by the investigation team which is being led by a Senior Investigation Officer working out of an incident room set up in Drogheda Garda Station. All information can be provided to Drogheda gardaí on 041 987 4200 or on the confidential line 1800 666 111. Tusla is working closely with Gardaí on the investigation.
