The Cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council has welcomed the news of major upgrade works at a wastewater treatment plant in the county.
Uisce Éireann announced today that upgrades to the Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant had gotten underway. 33 million euro has been invested in the project in partnership with Cavan County Council, with the aim of improving sewer capacity and ensuring compliance with EU Wastewater Directives Cathaoirleach of the Council, Cllr TP O'Reilly says the upgrade works are welcome news for the region.
"It's a long time coming, so I'm very happy that an announcement has been made. The crews have been in a couple of weeks preparing and there was additional land that had to be acquired for the work so happy that the announcement has been made. We've been working on this for a while and it's nice to see it come to fruition"
