Tens of thousands have been gathering in Ratheniska in County Laois for the opening day of the National Ploughing Championships.
Vintage machinery, welly throwing and virtual reality space exploration are just some attractions at this year's National Ploughing Championships.
The event kicks off in Ratheniska today and is expected to see over 300 thousand visitors attend between now and Thursday.
In addition to the competition itself, the festival will include trade shows and live entertainment.
Monaghan music star Marty Mone never misses the annual event, speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show earlier he says there isn't a pair of wellies to be seen. The 'Hit the Diff' singer has brought his popular truck along with a Muir Hill tractor that was restored by 17 year old Cormac McNally from Cremartin. He says it's a great opportunity to meet fans adding that it's a very place from him.
