Mountnugent man killed in Oldcastle crash named locally

The funeral mass of Glen Smith will take place this Saturday.

A man in his 20s who died in a road crash in Co Meath in the early hours of Tuesday morning has been named locally. Glen Smith from Dungimmon, Mountnugent in Co Cavan died following a crash near Oldcastle.

The crash occurred at around 2.20am at Boolies, Oldcastle near the Cavan border. Mr Smith, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Gardai said; Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to gardaí. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kells Garda Station on (046) 9280820, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station." His funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11am in St. Brigid’s Church, Mount Nugent, Cavan, with burial afterwards in Ballinacree Cemetery.
