Gardaí in Cavan and Monaghan have detected a number of vehicles breaking the speed limit in the first two hours of National Slow Down Day. Among those speeding was a motorist driving at 76km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Dublin Road. Meanwhile, another motorist was detected driving at 71km/h in a 60km/h Zone on the Monaghan Road, Castleblayney.
Over 15,700 vehicles have been checked as part of National Slow Down Day, which runs until 7 o'clock tomorrow morning.
An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to drivers to comply with speed limits in order to reduce the number of speed related collisions, save lives and reduce injuries on our roads.
