A motorist has been detected travelling at close to 200 kilometres per hour on the N2 in Monaghan.
Early this morning, Monaghan Roads Policing Unit were conducting a speed operation on the N2.
A car was detected travelling at 190kmph in a 100kmph speed zone - almost twice the legal limit and the highest speed detected in the county so far this year.

The driver was arrested for dangerous driving and has been charged to appear in Court.
